Six Days

Sooo. My written exams are in a week. I am feeling the pressures of personalities. Is this the key to success? Balancing the force of opposing personalities?

Seriously, I could use your good wishes.

My kitten is very cute, incidentally. He still only weight 8 pounds, and is very different from my original large orange cat who we put to sleep in late November, but very cute nonetheless.

My 13-yo CAT only ever weighs about 8 1/2 lbs at her heaviest, in mid-winter; then in spring she drops back to about 7, 7 1/2. She's tiny.

Best of luck on the written exams. Mine were excruciating, and I failed one. But guess what? I re-sat it, passed by the skin of my fucking teeth, and here I am. And as one of my committee members said, truthfully, no one will EVER ask how you did on your quals once they're done.

That said, I don't know what your department is like, but I suspect the main point of quals is just to show that you have broad knowledge of a field. No need to show off or be clever. Just summarize, summarize, summarize.

Good luck! It'll all be over soon! I hope you're plannning a nice vacation for yourself once they're over!

In most cases students don’t do as well in exams as they should
because they do not know the right methods for success in exams. Excellent books
are now available on the topic. Check this one out – How to succeed in exams - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1411678311/
